Our Strategies

PSPC’s comprehensive approach to reducing violence involves four interwoven strategies. By working strategically at the individual and neighborhood levels, we — foundations and funders, community organizations and the public and private sectors — can build the conditions for lasting peace.

Street Outreach, Support Services and Jobs

Reaching people most affected by violence means being a part of neighborhoods where violence exists and reaching out to likely victims and shooters to defuse tensions.

Police Reform and Community Relations

To boost reform and build trust, PSPC supports efforts to deeply engage communities most affected by discriminatory policing practices and gun violence.

Gun Policy

PSPC supports gun policy and advocates that target the source of illegal guns and work toward statewide gun policy reform.

Community Safety & Peace: The Chicago Fund for Safe & Peaceful Communities

PSPC created the Chicago Fund for Safe and Peaceful Communities to support community-based groups with programs in summer and fall, the most violent seasons in Chicago.

Community Safety & Peace: Let's Link Chi

This small grants fund, developed in Summer 2020, is designed to engage communities in cultivating safe, accessible places where neighbors can assume ownership and promote positive activities.
